Alex Given how broken Cyberpunk still is it seems an odd game to base a test conclusion around if I’m honest. And I find the set of games they’ve used a bit odd generally tbh - Witcher 3? Battlefield 5? There are plenty of better choices IMO. Try Ghosts of Tsushima for example, whose loading times are practically witchcraft even on the base PS4…
There definitely are plenty of PS5 games that are ‘designed to take advantage of the super fast storage in the PS5’ but they’re not really relevant to the test being performed as, given they’re all PS5 games, you have to run them off the internal storage so they’re not really worth talking about in a story about external storage. And you can’t make a PS4 game use internal storage in the best way, because the PS4 architecture you have to stick to for PS4 games doesn’t allow it. ‘PS4 game using PS5 storage effectively’ is unfortunately a square in the test matrix they can never fill.
The conclusion that an external NVME isn’t worth the extra is useful, but the full story about PS5 storage really isn’t going to be available until we get some certified internal expansion drives.
