Brave Didn’t realise it has been patched up. I’ve been waiting for that to happen before I dive back in. I bounced off it midway through I think. Have been wanting to get it finished 🙂
DrDamn Yeah, they did a mini-patch which allowed for a performance mode at 1080p which would hit 60fps, they’ve added a recent patch which allows you to uncap the framerate in the regular 4K (CB) full fat mode and that now hits 60fps on PS5. It’s on my list of considerations when I’ve completed Fenyx.
Alex PlayStation’s Jim Ryan: ‘We’re making a completely new VR format for PS5’ So the obvious question is what’s changed from the first headset? So this will be a completely new VR format for PS5. PlayStation has considered VR as a strategic opportunity and a big innovation story. We think there are two themes that you’re going to see: us capturing the technological progress that has taken place since the present VR system came to market and a considerable amount of lessons learned. Because the present system was our first one. [Changes will be] things like moving to a very easy single-cord setup with this one and many other similar learnings. Dev kits are about to go out. VR is getting a lot more traction now, but it’s still a nascent market. Why make a follow-up to the first headset? We believe in VR and have been extremely happy with the results with the present PlayStation VR and think that we will do good business with our new VR system for PlayStation 5. More importantly, we see it as something beyond this coming iteration that really could be really big and really important. We like to innovate; we think our community likes us to innovate. I’d turn around the question and say, “Why not?” For us, it’s a very logical step to take. We’re very excited by it and we think that people who are going to make VR games for our new VR system are going to be very excited too. Also in same interview GT7 delayed until 2022.
Brave Alex interesting that they’re not going stand alone. That still feels like the way forward to me. That said VR powered by the PS5 should be really impressive. And it sounds like honest to goodness analogue controls are coming. \o/
Alex First details on the next-generation VR system coming to the PS5 console. One of the innovations we’re excited about is our new VR controller, which will incorporate some of the key features found in the DualSense wireless controller, along with a focus on great ergonomics. That’s just one of the examples of future-proof technology we’re developing to match our vision for a whole new generation of VR games and experiences.
Gordon Free Ratchet & Clank (PS4) https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2021-02-23-ratchet-and-clank-ps4-is-being-given-away-for-free-this-march
DrDamn I thought they might go wireless, but the added cost of battery tech and low latency connection probably means that wired is not so bad. Good to see some vocal support for the tech though.
DrDamn State of Play this Thursday https://blog.playstation.com/2021/02/23/state-of-play-returns-this-thursday-february-25 10pm GMT
Gordon DrDamn There was a rumour recently that it’s a very short game, so PS+ might make sense for it.
Jonbwfc https://www.sifugame.com This very much aligns with my interests. EDIT: Didn’t notice at the time, but this is from the people who made Absolver. So it’s now in the ‘shut up and take my money’ category.
Brave Awesome! Don’t ignore Remnant, pleeeease. Also, I’m happy to jump in and help as I’m definitely going to jump back in now. And yay. I can’t find my Farpoint disc.
Gordon FFVII is pretty good, I even finished it which is rare for me these days. Apparently you can’t upgrade the PS Plus release to the PS5 version. That’ll go down well.
DrDamn Gordon yeah saw that. Fair enough it they are putting a decent amount of effort in. They should include it if you buy the DLC though.
Jonbwfc if the ‘PS5 upgrade’ is the thing they showed in the State of Play, it’s not just an ‘up generation patch’ but it actually has new content, so (IMO) I don’t really have a problem with them say ing ’Sorry you don’t get more free stuff to go with that free stuff we already gave you’.
