Slightly ironic that due to reschedules Sony are the only ones doing “E3” this year 😃. It should have been 9th - 11th June.

So then that was a bit of show!

Lots of 4K videos up on the Playstation channel now and they look much better than the stream.

Brief notes…

Games wise nice mix of big hitters - GT7, Spiderman, HZD2, R&C, weird but wonderful wtf new stuff - Little Devil Inside was one of my highlights and Demon’s Souls! \o/
Format was really, really good, very little talking, great production values and lots and lots of game after game after game.
Console I think looks nice, gonna be a bit marmite but I think it looks good. Digital console for the win.

Other bits I liked … Deathloop, Godfall, Jett, Ghostwire, Sackboy, Stray and Destruction Allstars, Astro bot!
R&C in particular looks stunning in 4K. The design seems very much around the fast SSD too.

Still unknowns - show us the back of the damn controller! How backward compatibility works and how far back it goes.
“Subtle” Little pop at MS at the start “everything from this point on is captured on PS5 devkits” 😉

DrDamn I actually think it looks better on it’s side than stood up. Stood up it reminds me a bit too much of the Stark tower in the Avengers films 😃

So looks like the black base part can be moved from the side to the bottom. I notice you can’t see that side of the system in any of the photos.

Love the look of it, again only 2 usb ports on the front though which I never find enough. Really intrigued with a lot of the games shown. Can’t wait to get my hands on one.

Odd that there’s a mix of ports - one USB-A and one USB-C. Of course, it also kind of does depend how many (and what mix) of USB are on the back - if there are four, we’re probably OK, because you can always run an extension cable round if you have to…

I’m glad they’ve done something bold, but honestly not completely sold on the looks. I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

I think of everything we saw the Horizon Zero Dawn sequel looked the most impressive and “next gen”. This is clearly a big step over what’s currently found on the PS4.

Backward compatibility I reckon - Dual shock 4 pads are forward compatible aren’t they? Hopefully a decent number of ports on the back.

The new Spiderman is an expansion apparently. I wondered if they’d made a new city for it but looks like it’s the same location, just with new story missions and PS5 enhancements.

Alex Actually, confusion abounds, it is a standalone in the vein of Uncharted: Lost Legacy, which is what I originally thought. Still not clear if it has a new city of not, as that will reflect on how much value it has for me, having now finished the main game twice.

I absolutely love the look of the thing. Glad they’re leaning into not being a boring black box.

DS on day one means I’m going to move mountains to get a ps5 on day one. XSX can now wait I’m afraid.

Their launch games will likely be available on my laptop anyway.

I can’t shake the feeling that the digital edition is the “correct” one. The disk drive is a bit of an ugly bulge. Once you take that away it looks better.
