That’s a shame for Vettel. He drove a strong race and deserved a bucket full of points.
Ocon drove great under pressure from a 4 time world champion all the way, but if it wasn’t for Alonso’s robust and skilful defensive driving he may not have won it.
I guess it was too risky for Hamilton pit from pole and he of course wouldn’t have the benefit of seeing what other drivers do before he passes the pit entrance. Apparently it’s against the regulations to tell a driver to box on the formation lap… seems a little pointless when it’s ok to give instructions for the other 70 laps though? That said, if Hamilton had pitted, wouldn’t he have struggled to get back out in any half decent position with Mercedes being at the start of the pit lane and the pack being so bunched up, you’d imagine he’d have to wait for all cars to pass before being released. So would he have been much worse off? 🤷🏻♂️
