@Brave and I tried Payday 3 last night. 4 days post launch and we still couldn’t get a game together. Apparently they have switched underlying suppliers for matchmaking infrastructure and it was working for a bit, but an update on that side broke everything again.
We actually had fun and some laughs at how horrendous it all was. They’ve decided to reinvent the party/matchmaking wheel to accommodate crossplay and have missed the basics, rolled back the years in terms of functionality and topped it all off with some horrific GUI design decision. The highlight of which was inviting people to your party being on a press of RS whilst a press of LS blocked them and the icons for these at the bottom of the screen were the wrong way round (i.e. RS to invite was on the left of LS to block).
Parties were also not kept together, so when matchmaking (which was for a private party of two - i.e. no actual matchmaking required!) eventually fails the host is told and then passed back to the main screen but the rest of the party have no indication aside from the number in party indicator at the bottom of the screen dropping by 1. The party leader then needs to invite everyone again. I believe this also applies should you ever get into a game, at the end parties are not kept together and you have to reform.
One to revisit in 4 or 5 months to see if they’ve fixed anything.
