Not quite as simple re storage tbh. The file sizes are definitely a fair bit smaller for the S. I can confirm this as I’ve now got both (S is going in Lily’s room most likely). My experience of both is that while the jump is noticeable from the S to the X, it actually takes a long hard stare to begin to see it, and that’s with the S having been on a 65 inch 4k TV.
Frame rate is the big one imo but honestly I struggle to see anywhere near as much of a jump from 60 to 120 fps as I do from 30 to 60.
There’s a lot of assumptions that get made about the S but I’ve honestly been very pleasantly surprised by the thing. And looking back on it after a few days with the X, I stand by that.
It’s not that the X is disappointing; I think it’s worth the money, but the S is really bloody impressive and MS deserve far more credit for what they’ve achieved with it. The jump from the previous generation to the S is far far greater than the jump from the S to the X.
Yes it’s noticeable. On a 4k tv. But I’m not convinced it’s worth the extra 200 quid if you’re going to run a 1080p screen. Especially seeing as external storage is so cheap.
If you think you’ll upgrade your TV, Stu, then it might be a different argument, but IMO it’s still not so clear cut.
