A lot of rumours over the weekend around MS future console plans. It became enough that MS had to issue a denial of sorts.

“We are actively investing in our future first-party consoles and devices designed, engineered and built by Xbox. For more details, the community can revisit our agreement announcement with AMD,”
The rumour started with an “insider” reporting that plans were “up in the air”. That then got expanded out to “there will be no further Xbox consoles” in the usual way these things spread and the original statement is taken out of context etc.
There probably is some truth in there somewhere. Given the current price changes to hardware and GamePass have hit priority profitability and new console sales have been on the wane for some time, it’s hard to see what they could release which would do any better. I would expect future plans which were made a few years ago are at the very least being re-assessed. I think they’ve ended up so far down a particular route going fully third-party with some windows based eco-system and hardware is looking more likely. Activision acquisition didn’t work out how they needed it to, but has left them with options to move forward with.
