Gordon the kid and I adored The Tomorrow Children. It was so unlike anything else. It’s really only just occurred to me that it has some major similarities to Death Stranding.
I think a lot of folk close to our age really responded to the vibe. The Soviet era animation and music I just found really weirdly soothing. I just think it triggered childhood Cold War memories and made me feel at home instantly. Dylan Cuthbert said at the time that that’s what he was going for. It was a really strange experience but I loved it immensely. I must admit, I refuse to remove it from my console. I even downloaded it on my ps5. I very occasionally fire it up just to hear the music and get that vibe from the visuals again. My PS avatar is even from it.
Still miss it. I had a nice chat with Dylan Cuthbert on twitter on the day they switched off the servers. Seemed like a genuinely good person.
I’ve always wondered if this was the beginning of the end for the risk-taking Sony. It was about the same time as Gravity Rush 2 had it’s servers switched off and at the time I felt like that was collateral damage from the battle between Uncle Jim and Shawn Layden.
