I think there is definitely a bit of a lull going on at the moment. I was talking to a friend yesterday and the only games between the two of us that we could think of at the time that we were excited about for the rest of the year were Link’s Awakening, Luigi’s Mansion and the Star Wars Uncharted wotsamadoodle. It’s next gen time but nobody really wants to talk about it.
So for me that + summer + new job (which is considerably more demanding than my previous lazy bastard role) means that gaming has taken a backseat. In fact, before I went on hols I don’t think I’d really played anything for a couple of months. Holidays meant I had a bit of Switch time though and that’s got the gaming up a bit. And since I’ve been back I’ve been messing with Planetfall and FFXIV have a free login event going on so that’s now reinstalled and I had a fun evening on that last night. I think in a few weeks, once the kids are back at school and the normal routines return, I’ll be craving some gaming action but for now, I’m kinda happy just tootling around.
As far as growing the forum goes, new blood will be great. I think we could do with some new perspectives as there’s a lot of stuff these days that passes me by because I don’t have enough time to do much than read the forum (and I do read everything but rarely respond because I’m usually on my phone, like now and even posting this is a pita.) and skim Eurogamer (which, let’s be honest, is rubbish these days but it’s a habit). For instance, I only learned about Amid Evil and Dusk yesterday when catching up on some podcasts and they sound like they’re totally something I want to play. I don’t think just inviting friends will be enough to grow the forum much but it’s a start. Not sure I’ve got any suggestions how else to do it though lol.
