Making good progress in Bloodborne Academy. Got past the wolf boss and got to the area where you can take a run at the Rennala - volunteered on a couple of attempts but not had one where the process is properly known. I’m guessing it might be something to do with standing under her in order to get the slam attack that someone else casts to hit but not sure yet
There is lots I’ve explored and lots I’ve not found in the Academy too. Not gone down the big lift mechanism to the lower depths yet, I’m currently on a big jaunt around the rooftops from the Grace before Rennala and there are other sections around that Grace I’ve not got to yet.
On a general point I’m amazed, pleasantly, how convenient the Elden Ring interpretation of an open world is. In the middle of the Academy I can easily teleport back to an earlier point, out to farm some sheep for arrows or to a blacksmith for an upgrade. That coupled with the excessively fast load times and a lot of faff is removed and you can concentrate on exploration and taking risks.
I’m still only early to mid-game at best but as a game it’s jostling with Demon’s as my favourite game of the “series” and therefore in my personal top 3 games of all time. Demon’s has always retained it’s spot at the top despite arguably better games in the series (Dark Souls and Bloodborne). It was the first, and whilst newer titles improved functionally and expanded on what it laid down, Demon’s was always special because it laid the foundation for the DNA of the other games. Elden Ring has blown me away in how well they have adapted the formula to an expansive and beautiful open world.
