@Brave - I decided to stop using the G+ chat for this stuff, as it's driving me up the wall. Anyway, other people might want to contribute to the discussion. The Flarum forum has an extension API that can be used to add new features to the site. It's still in beta (like everything else in Flarum), but there are some interesting things listed.
Something that might be quite useful is the Google Login extension, which lets people login using their Google details, something I always appreciate. There are also other things such as spoiler tags, that might be nice. To install these we need to SSH into the server and use composer, but it's not that hard actually.
I noticed an extension called Pusher already available in the admin section, which I believe should cause the forum to update without having to be refreshed manually. It might be cool to explore turning this on to see how it works. Having to refresh the page to see new content is a bit annoying. When I first saw this I thought it might enable push notifications, but sadly not. Still, it should make things a bit more dynamic.
I plan to have a look at the extension API when I have the time, to see if there is anything cool we can add ourselves. It would be nice to have our gamer tags listed in our profiles and other stuff like that. And proper push notifications would be great. That can all wait for now, thoughts for the future. But anyway, the extension API could prove pretty useful in the long run.
