Had a nice wee impromptu session with @Jonbwfc last night and also with @Fumanstu on Friday. There are some quirks as regards the saves of clients versus saves of hosts.
Client saves save progress but not location, so when you go back to your own save you’ll be back at your last saved location. You will have progress though and you will have your friend’s bases etc on your list if they had portals.
Which is cool imo, means there’s no chance of getting stranded (turns out the system I was in last night had no space station (a rare occurrence but not a bug) so Jon could have been in a bit of bother if it had saved location for him.
Just remember to upload your bases when you change them because otherwise it’s not persistent for anyone but you. So if a friend visits when your offline they won’t see much (I think).
Can confirm that cross platform play worked well with Stu. We had issues when I tried to portal out of a system; it just left Stu where he was, and Jon actually come to think of it.
I think the only way to move a party to a new system is by using freighters, as that worked for me and Stu. I actually think that’s very cool and adds to the immersion a quite a bit.
So I guess it’s a case of finding a system or two that can be used as a jumping off point and getting all these systems on everyone’s portal lists.
I’m running through the base building quests now which shouldn’t take too long. I spent hours being side tracked by secondary quests and just mad exploration but I think the base quest line can be reached fairly quickly by progressing the Artemis storyline
Is there a good night for folk to jump on this? Or is it more catch me if you see me? I really need to get some Nexus missions done as part of a secondary quest too so I’m keen to hook up.
