Video Editing On Xbox One

Is it possible to delete a centre portion of a grabbed gameplay video using the X1’s editing utils? I can only seem to delete the leading and trailing sections (i.e. keep the centre rather than delete it).

A split feature would be an alternative, so then split the video into 3 sections, delete the middle one and rejoin the remaining two end sections.

My DVR recorder has better editing features than this clunky mess.

Not sure but agree that it really is a horrible mess. Trying to get something from record on the Xbox to YouTube is pathetic.

I think I’ve figured out a way to use Trim: realising that it doesn’t overwrite the original means I can trim all the sections I want, save them then rejoin them using upload studio, What a palava!

The whole dashboard is a mess. The controller’s inferior to the X360’s (poorly positioned clicky bumper buttons and unresponsive back/start equivalents - whatever they’re called now).

Apparently, there used to be an upload feature in the Youtube app, but they stupidly decided to remove it.

Win 10 progressively slows my PC.

MS stuff has gone downhill! Prefer my X360 and Win 7/XP.

Also, Trim hangs if you try to trim more than 1 minute from the start of the longest capture length vids. Upload wouldn’t play my vid and can’t see the main screen because the left/right frames move to obscure it. Utter carp!

My DVR has simple and effective divide and partial delete features that I use to cut ads from films before burning to DVD. Is the PS4 version any better? Can you upload to YouTube? Xbox won’t allow uploads to Upload and Twitter in background.

Gammerz I’ve been uploading to Twitter recently on Xbox and seems to do so very quickly and simply… I used to do YouTube but I think the app was removed or something.

PS4 has uploads to YouTube, Twitter and Facebook I think. It also has a separate video editing suite for adding music, voice over, images etc to your creation and works very well.

BritishBean Yes, unfortunately it was removed. It’s just that XBL uses background uploads whereas other sites don’t - you’ve got to wait for it to completed. Upload Studio needs two passes.

Didn’t they integrate it into the YouTube app? Our am I getting confused?

Hopefully X1SX brings some new sharing features but i won’t hold my breath since the OS presumably will be same as the rest of the Xbox console family.

Gammerz oof you’re testing my memory there but most likely! And Forza that launched with it had less tracks less cars and less features too 🤨

To be fair, I think the X1 is a special case. Much like Don Mattrick, who led that launch. I honestly can’t see them launching without feature parity again.

Edit in Upload Studio option is missing from video edit options, only Trim remains. Could this be because my HDD is 99% full or is this another MS stealth update “feature”? Or maybe my XBL quota is full (as UStudio saves to cloud only, whereas Trim saves edits to HDD)?
