Alex I think there’s enough good to great reviews, I’m sold. Theres bad reviews of every game, no matter how good. Now I need to decide if I finish BG3 first, was enjoying it but totally stalled on Act 3, making such slow progress.
Gordon I swithered a bit due to the reviews but inevitably I caved. It’s not at all what I was expecting. It feels a lot more like a big budget linear console action game than an RPG to me. It’s all a bit shiny and polished and fake looking. The combat is fun though and I’m having a good time with it.
Alex Was planning on starting it this weekend, but need to drive down to England today. Might get a chance to play it on Sunday night.
Gordon The combat keeps getting better, there’s a lot of depth to it. Wasn’t expecting lots of parrying as a mage but the window is nice and forgiving so I’m not complaining.
Alex Played a few hours and I’m enjoying it but honestly feels more like God of War so far than Dragon Age.
Alex I do not get the combat in this at all, I can never get the timing of anything right, I can never seem to parry or dodge correctly, I’m constantly taking damage and getting stunned. It reminds me so much of God of War Ragnarok, a game that became such an insufferable slog by the end. I just wish every sodding game wasn’t like this these days. Why do they all need to be sooo frustrating?
Alex Please excuse my rant. I just get tried of being so frustrated playing these sorts of games. Dark Souls has so much to answer for. 🙂
Jogort I’m quite enjoying the combat…. Most of the time and I’m one that very rarely gets parry or block right on souls games. It’s definitely a different visual direction for the dragon age games also a little cheesy on the story/acting but it’s keeping me interested so that’s a bonus. Wasn’t sure what to expect size wise but upon getting through the early stuff and can see the world map, it looks like it’s got a decent amount of area to go over.
Alex I am actually enjoying it as well, for the most part. Now I’m 17h in it’s starting to open up more and feel more like an RPG. While I find some parts of the combat frustrating it’s not actually a hard game most of the time. The stylish visuals I could take or leave, it looks great but I think a bit more sober presentation would suit it more. Just my opinion.
Jogort Think I’ve got about 50 hours in this now, really enjoying it, story is keeping me wanting to play and the action is my kind of pace but why can’t I get rid of useless low level weapons and armour and sell for shinies to upgrade stuff more. Although it has a certain style some areas I’ve opened later on are still breathtaking. Think I’m about level 33 all character slots filled. I should say it runs perfectly smooth for me on the Pro even with lots going on in a big basket with lots of fire/lightning etc.
Brave Jogort I’m enjoying it a lot too. Re: the low level gear. I think it’s because your gear upgrades by picking up duplicates. Like if you pick up a grey shield that you have a green version of, that will upgrade it to blue.
Jogort Brave yeah true enough, I’ve done level 8 gear now and some that is still level 1, dunno how it decides what you’re gonna get.
