Lots of speculation in there and reasons to launch this year without looking at reasons not to. Sounds like the sort of wishful thinking I'd come up with. I still think 2020 of some sort. It makes a lot more sense to go 2020 for technical, competition and other reasons. I think we'll see a decent price cut on existing hardware this year to push more consoles out there and make money back on services and games sold.
It would be silly to change complex plans for one financial year which would greatly impact future years. It was expected PS4 sales would drop off - it's happened later than expected hence the push towards 2020. If it's had more of an impact than expected I don't see how the plaster of rushing a product to market this year would help.
