I remember rolling my eyes when I saw the announcement trailer for this. I occasionally dabbled in battle royales but haven’t for a while as it’s pretty stale as a genre.

I was curious about how it could work on the deck though so I gave it a try. Got to say, despite my misgivings, I’ve actually had a lot of fun with it. It’s free to play but the season pass and shop seems to be cosmetic only.

Runs very very well on the deck too. Looks very in keeping with the masquerade universe as is the gameplay. They’ve really leaned into the different factions and abilities of the world and each character type plays quite differently.

You also got ample chance to survive an attack. You can crawl away to safety if you’re lucky, and you have one respawn, so unlike so many other games in the genre it’s not the old cycle of load in, die, load another game.

It’s still in a state where it’s being improved upon, but really it’s fun already. I’m pretty crap but by playing smart (and using gyro controls to subtly tweak my aiming ) I’m regularly hovering around top 5.

If you occasionally get a hankering for an online death match then this is a pretty good option to just drop into. Actually gives me hope for the Masquerade games as a whole as well. They’ve actually stayed fairly true to it all.
