I haven’t really updated on this so here goes.
I actually really enjoyed the couple of hours I played. I liked the world and I loved the combat. And I’m really itching to keep playing.
But it turns out that there is actually something to the stories that the game is, let’s say “exposing flaws” in some 30xx cards. Actually there’s some folk saying it’s not just those cards either but I’m not so sure that’s just a coincidence.
I’ve seen some fairly in-depth analyses of what the cards are doing when running the game though and it’s relatively alarming. Some people are describing running at fixed fps on lower settings and it’s actually happening when they quit the game. For some reason that causes the fan to spin up like crazy and sometimes they end up with solder popping and a dead card.
I had one crash to desktop myself in the two hour session I had which is making me wary as well.
I know it’s unlikely to harm any one gamer. But I also know what my luck is like, so I’m holding back for now. I can’t afford to replace the thing just yet and I would be lost without my racing over the winter.
It’s frustrating though. I haven’t enjoyed an MMO this much since City of Heroes.
