Major humblebrag but also might be useful.
That’s my top 4 videos. Always blows my head off when I check the numbers on the top 2.
Reason (other than woohoo!) that I’m posting this is to illustrate what most people will tell you about YouTube. That is, it’s a search engine. If you can answer a question you’ll get more people watching what you make.
The top 2 videos there vastly outshine the others. I’m actually surprised at the 3rd one and then it gets more normal, with the videos I just make for shirts and giggles (thanks puritan autocorrect) falling way down the list with 100ish views if I’m very lucky.
One YTer that I respect has a mantra. One for them, one for me. That is, she makes a video that answers a question, and then makes one for herself.
I don’t know if I can do that. It’ll be more like 3 for me. But it definitely works. I’ve started making more serious photography videos, about my work and about things that interest me. This was really the end game when I started doing racing videos. A risk free environment to make mistakes in and learn and get over the horrendous nerves.
I can see it working there as well already. People are coming to watch the videos about whatever old camera I caved on, on eBay and a fraction stay and watch other stuff too. It’s very early days on that channel though. Bit of polish to add. Fun though!
Probably going to redo the crew chief one soon as that’s changed a little.
