Well. Turns out that if your PC isn’t switched on for a few weeks, then it will hate you.
I got about an hour of play under my belt, after spending 90 minutes troubleshooting why my wheel wasn’t working, after it being fine immediately before I switched off for its two month rest. Turns out it was probably just in a huff.
Then OBS decided to update, along with my elgato mic software, and suddenly I had another hour of troubleshooting that too. PCs man.
Anyway, there’s good news and bad news.
The bad. Right now it’s a bit buggy. I can’t play the anniversary mode (which sounds superb) because it crashes to desktop every time. The UI is probably great on console, but it’s super inconsistent on PC. The livery editor has potential, but I reckon it’s never going to see the post launch love it needs. There’s not even a way to delete a decal if you place one in the wrong place.
The good. I got it running well and looking really good. The handling is a step up in a lot of ways. Weight transfer feels great and the sense of weight in general feels amazing when hitting jumps, bumps and undulations in the road. It REALLY hit my arms hard though . I’m going to have to build things back up if I want to hit endurance races this winter.
Generally the ffb feels great, sound is improved a fair bit, and there’s a really intriguing new tyre strategy mechanic that I still have to figure out. Despite the bugs. It’s pretty bloody good IMO.
