I’ve unlocked the various types of hunt now. Very much up for cooping them whenever folk get to them. They seem to have appeared in every map I’ve unlocked so far.
Really really enjoying the B movie stuff. They’ve really gone for it and I’m really digging the extra story beats you get from the side quests.
In general it feels like a ridiculously generous game. Right down to how often it lets you trigger beast mode with your powers. The loot game and the builds that come from that also seem great from the outset with the same sense of generosity.
Imo it makes the likes of Destiny feel a little mealy mouthed by comparison. They seem happy to just let you have at it from the beginning. And it just gets better from there.
Yes it has some elements of design that feel archaic now and it’s one of the more chaotic launches of an online game I’ve seen, but that isn’t taking away from the sheer amount of fun I’m having with the core gameplay loop.
It struck me yesterday that each one of the four classes could easily have been enough for a game set around one character and it would still have had a crazy amount of flexibility.
I don’t know what Sqeenix is going to do to spoil the party later on, but I feel like People Can Fly intend to be true to their word. Re mtx and the like.
Hopefully they can prove to the money-hat wearing tosspots higher up that we don’t need gambling in our games. Be generous and people will reciprocate.
