It’s done! I’m really quite pleased with it actually. It’s absolutely rock solid and feels really comfy with the car seat ( a VW mk. 4 Golf Recaro passenger seat). As a Brucey bonus the cables for the wheel and pedals fit nicely into the aluminium groves as a handy cable tidy feature.
The whole thing has cost me £230. That’s for the aluminium, the car seat (bargain at £25), brackets, washers, bolts and caster wheels.
It has been a bit of a pain in the arse to fine tune into the perfect position. The T-Nuts, once tightened with a bolt, dig into the aluminium profile so if you want to loosen a bolt to move a piece of aluminium you can’t really. You have to remove it, push the T-Nut back down into the slot and then move it. However, now it’s in place there shouldn’t be a need to move it until the Fanatec gear arrives. And thank god, the amount of cuts I have on my hands is ridiculous.
