Alex I’d tried the previous limited Beta before (just not against real people). Gave this a go last night and it’s good fun, plus it worked (assuming you didn’t have odd download issues).
You can play against Bots for as long as you like to get used to it and then there is the core playlist choice between the arena modes and big team battle. I much prefer the open less predictable nature of big team battle. It’s a refreshing change to go back to the sort of shooter which centres around set starting weapons and alternatives being pick-ups around the map. Games I played were all good fun, looked nice and clean/crisp and ran well in performance mode. The action was snappy and even in the big team modes games completed at a fair old lick.
One thing that did feel off was the stuff around the core game action was quite treacle like by today’s standards. I guess this is due to the continued support of older hardware but loading into a game and the pre-amble - slow panning shots of the level - take an age to play out. I’m used to snappy load times and getting straight to the action - even in Battlefield(!) - so this is hopefully something they can improve.
