Quick question guys, I’ve seen people using the nvidia filters to adjust how the game looks, have any of you done that or are you running it as is?

I’m trying to figure out if I’m just overly sensitive to the temperature used in the game or not. I know films like the Matrix and swordfish did my nut in beceause of the (imo) weird colour film over everything. Never noticed it in games before but its making me question why Grid never sat right with me either.

Edit - Never even thought of trying the time trials to get up to speed. Cheers @Brave

Oh that’s interesting, I was thinking of slowly tweaking my settings up the way to see when I start dropping from a stable 120fps on the quest. Will have a nosey at this too.

I’ve never been aware of iRacing having a tint, the colour seems very natural to me. Maybe I’m just not sensitive at all to that? Does it look the same in game as it does in the videos, or when you watch videos on a different device/screen? If not it could be a glitch or something.

Watch out when using time trials as they count towards your safety rating so don’t use them to learn the track as every time you crash it will hurt your license.

Yeah definitely. Do test drives until you’re quite happy that you can stay on track.

Re colour. I just leave it vanilla. There are shaders though, I’ve seen videos pop up in my feed.

So I’ve been at it all day and I think I’ve got it sorted now. The pancake version was simple even though it’s 3440×1440. But VR at Barcelona took a lot of work despite the boost the service quit trick gave me. I’ve got it hovering around 80 there now. I suspect that’ll be significantly improved when I try an older track.

I went through the first Reddit post I posted this weekend. Had to do it a couple of times as the config didn’t seem to take. I ended up using iracingconfig tool to get the edits done in the end.

Anyway. That was a ridiculous amount of work but I’m hopeful that I’ve got it working acceptably. Thank goodness for that weird workaround.

That said, console racing isn’t always smooth sailing either considering the new CSL DD doesn’t work properly with ACC on Xbox. So forget what I said 😂

Bathurst this week. Given the pasting my rating took on Sunday at a track wide enough for F1, I’m going to learn it, try and get some rating back with Time Trials ( you do get a little bit of rating if you stay on the track ), and then move on to practicing Silverstone and maybe next week’s track as well.

The splits that I’m currently in, it’s not unlikely to be pretty horrific 😄

Hahah. Bathurst can go spin. Always hated that track.

Looks like Oulton for the MX-5 and Long Beach in the other spec series it can race in. Didn’t check Formula Vee.

GassyHaggis oulton fosters is great. I currently use it as a known entity type track to test new cars on. Most difficult and important corner imo is Fosters itself. The kerb can ruin your day, depending on the car.

I love Bathurst, one of my favourite tracks ever. The downhill section never stops being thrilling.

@Brave we might need to do an old skool hot lap challenge.

I’ve bought the Porsche GT3 now as well as the McLaren. The Porsche is much more pointy, a bit of lift-off oversteer in high speed corners. It was very easy to get it turned in and seemed stable on corner exit. I liked it a lot but will need getting used to. It did feel quite similar to the Porsche Cup car which is what you’d expect. I felt it was faster than the McLaren.

To sum up my experiences so far:

Lambo - very stable, neutral on turn in, a bit slow
McLaren - stable, tendency to understeer on entry, lift-off oversteer in medium speed corners
Porsche - a bit livelier feel, nicely pointy on the front end, lift-off oversteer in high speed corners

I’m favouring the Porsche for definite. I started to feel very comfortable with it around Catalunya.

Bathurst hot lap in the GT3 Fixed Time Trial in the Porsche 911 GT3.R.

I reckon there’s still some time to find, I’m not confident enough to go flat over the top of the hill and am a little hesitant on the downhill section.

Jogort Most likely iSchedule app which you can get for iOS and Android. It costs a couple of quid but it’s pretty good.

ISchedule is really good. I also use https://www.iracingcalendar.com/ as I find it a little easier to work out what tracks I might want for a given formula.

You need to spend some time entering tracks and cars that you own (not an issue at an early stage) but then it’s a nice simple way to look at what you need.

ISchedule is great for working out what races you can fit in during a session.
