Acropolis rally is back this weekend. It’s been over a decade I think since the last time it was in the WRC, which is shocking really given it’s one of the classics.
It took a hefty toll yesterday. Neuville lost power steering in the worst possible rally to do so. Evans ended up stuck in 6th gear, which he somehow managed to change to being stuck in 3rd, which was a fair bit better for the clutch.
Today, there are some really tough classic acropolis stages, forcing a lot of driver error and the young Rovanpera is making hay. He’s just beaten Tanak by 18 seconds in one stage, which doubled his lead I think.
I have a horrible feeling we’re about to see one dominant talent in Ogier, being replaced by another one.
It would be nice if motorsport could just once have a handful of absolute equals vying for the top spot. 😄
