That’s a really good price. It’s got a great range of cars and circuits too. I’d say it’s very definitely a top tier simulation but it’s a half rung below ACC and iracing in terms of difficulty.

At least it was. It’s been a few months since I fired it up and I believe it’s had some significant updates. At 13 quid it’s a no brainer for the VR experience alone. Spa in the rain is amazing.

BritishBean if you can run the performance hog that is ACC then you can run AMS2 with no issues whatsoever.

For me, given how great AMS2 looks and runs, Kunos have no bloody excuse for the way ACC performs.

So.. much to my surprise… Meta completely outshone Sony for VR announcements. Timed, of course, to try and get in front of whatever Apple bring to the table next week. There was a LOT. This is just the stuff I found interesting. Some of it is supposed to be coming to PSVR2.

There’s a couple there that might even tweak @SRR ’s nipples. 😉

Edit: I should add that, bizarrely, there’s even some gameplay of a Sony owned IP that Sony didn’t bother showing.

I have owned a PSVR, Oculus Quest 2, and an HP Reverb G2. I’d say of those the Quest was the best one for general VR gaming experience. It was easy to use and setup, with a huge number of titles, and generally a very good user experience. It was annoying when being used with a PC though which is why I sold mine in the end, but honestly I’d say the G2 is not a huge upgrade technically and having to trail around the big heavy wire is a pain. I sort of regret selling the Quest now if I’m honest!

I have to say I’m with you. There’s a lot to be said for standalone VR. I’ve stopped holding my breath for Deckard, although I really want to see it, but I might end up caving on a Quest 3. Apple’s thing might be amazing, but I don’t think it’ll be gaming focussed. The rumours are it’s going to be pricey and effectively the VR equivalent of a MacBook/iPad pro. It could be amazing, but is going to cost a lung.

Yeah. I’ve got one coming on Oct 10. It’s actually looking good and the assassin’s creed vr game actually looks like a proper open world AC game. Quite impressive.

I’m more interested by the bump in FoV though. I’m going to be setting up my sim rig again for the launch of the new WRC game and that’s getting post launch VR on PC. The field of view will be very helpful there.

Brave I’ve tried Dirt Rally in VR but it was a bit much for me, a lot of lateral movement and vertical undulations, made it hard to keep my stomach down. Be interested to hear how you get on.

You’ll still get good use out of it. There’s a lot to said for standalone vr. And the airlink connection to a pc can be pretty bloody good too.

Brave I spotted your comment on that and got it working. Don’t have too many VR games on Steam but it works, plus gives you access to loads more Oculus games.

My only gripe is I cannot wear glasses with it. It was never a problem with PSVR, I just cannot get them to fit with this. It’s manageable for most things it’s just not great, and reduces playing time as it strains my eyes.

Any tips for fellow spec wearers? I’m assuming there’s a few of us!

Kafkaesque do you have the glasses spacer? It’s a little extra gasket that goes between the facial interface and the headset iirc.

I do. It’s not the distance to the lens although I’m paranoid about that, it’s the width. I can’t get my head and glasses in the set without the arms getting stuck on the side which means they’re generally either way off my face or on my eyeballs, and move with the headset rather than staying on my face. I’ve managed 47 years without contacts but I’m tempted now!

Kafkaesque maybe look at third party facial interface and spacers? Have a look at AMVR and BOBOVR. They’re well respected third party accessory makers for quest headsets. I’ve used both with no regrets.
