Yeah it’s likely a placeholder, probably set high to stop people buying one on the off chance, it just threw me when I saw it this morning.

My pc is on the fritz so, not knowing anything about gaming PCs, I asked ChatGPT for pre-built recommendations under £725.
It came up with laptops direct for £650 (incl. VAT):

I’m a bit out the loop on PCs these days, but looks solid enough. I suggest thinking about the games you want to play the resolution you play at and going from there. 16GB of RAM might be a tiny bit on the low side in 2025, however RAM is probably the easiest part to upgrade, assuming that you can still buy it in the future.

I’d also say that the graphics card only having 8GB of ram will be a problem for newer games so again depends what you’re using it for. Mental that this is the case these days. I think the first card i bought was a 3DFX Voodoo 3 and had 16MB of ram 🤣

Jogort I think the *060 series cards are intended for 1080p gaming, which doesn’t need a huge amount of video ram.

As a rough rule the Nvidia cards rank as follows:

5060 = 1080p
5070 = 1440p
5080 = 4k
5090 - people with too much money

This is why it’s good to consider what kind of gaming you want to do. If you are plugging your PC into a 4K screen then a 5060 is going to seem underpowered (on the latest games), but for 1080p on high settings, or 1440p on medium, it’s going to feel fine.

You could try checking places like Scan, Overclockers, Novatech or PC Specialist. They all offer pre-configured systems at various price points. If none of them take your fancy, they should at least give you a few points of reference as to what parts are worth considering. PC Specialist built my work PC a few years back - it has been very reliable and I had a pretty good experience dealing with them.
