I went in thinking I wouldn’t like it but have actually come out really admiring it. I kind of disagree with the budget game thing. I think the production values are far higher than that label might suggest. And I’ve seen plenty of triple A games which aren’t as long and don’t have the replayability this does.
I get the reasoning, I just think this is much more polished than that label suggests. The story was… well… almost worthy of souls. It fit the bill. The world building was there as well.
The combat was great imo, and had some very neat and unique ideas.
I loved the shell concept too. I’ve just now gone back in to ng+ with Tiel. Although I’ll probably finish something else before I get deep into this again.
My only gripe really was that after the initial fight and couple of hours after, it felt a little too easy. I did the last area without dying and every boss first time although the very last boss was touch and go, and had some great ideas that threw me off initially.
