“Games, toys and hobbies, particularly computer games and computer games consoles, made the biggest contribution to the inflation rise, the ONS said.” People need entertainment during lockdown, so the profiteering greedy scum bump the prices up.
Not sure I agree with that. There have been nonstop sales for the last three months.
More digital sales and low stocks of current gen machines winding down for next gen caught them on the hop. No need for cheaper deals if you can sell the stock without them. Not really greedy scum, more not selling at cheaper prices because they didn’t have to.
Inflation refers to price hikes though, not “not selling at cheaper prices” or numbers of sales.
Gammerz inflation is selling it at a higher price than it was. Which is the case if they don’t have to offer discounts due to demand isn’t it?
Inflation in this case is prices rising /because it costs more to make/ isn’t it? There hasn’t been a significant price rise for a long time (that’s coming next gen though).
Brave for stuff that’s manufactured yes. For video games the prices haven’t gone up yet as such, but demand has and availability of physical releases had gone down. So average price people are paying had gone up.
I’d argue that as the cost of living has gone up, so have wages, which should raise the cost of games being developed, which in turn should raise the price.
which is a decent description of inflation?
Anyway, I’m at peak pedant at that point. As you were. 😊
