I reckon this nearly nails it, although I don't agree with his view that this style of game is suddenly unfashionable, given that it's ... what?... the third game to go this route? Destiny, The Division and this. Doesn't really seem that overdone to me. I'd personally say that Battle Royale which he cites as fashionable ( and he has a point I guess) is the overdone genre right now.
All that being said, I agree with him that it's a spectacular world, and the flight is fabulous, the gunplay is the best that BioWare has managed to date if not the best managed on the Frostbite engine itself. Tactically, I think a good squad would find this unsurpassed though. The tactical options available for crowd control, AoE attacks etc are already opening out for me, just 3 hours in.
I'm not sure that his criticism of the "anaemic weaponry" is fair tbh after just ten hours. I suspect that will improve over time as it does any loot game.
Personally, I'm finding it interesting enough to know I want to see much more; the Iron Man power fantasy is more than enough to suck me in. I reckon it will disappoint anyone expecting a coop mass effect though.
