September 4th 2020. Usual current platforms. Looks nice. Think original soundtrack is being used too. Split screen and online play.

I was initially pretty cynical when I saw this was a THPS remaster but this looks like a proper remake. I’m totally in for this. Looks ace 🙂

Unreal 5 running on a PS5. Now I’m impressed!

I know graphics aren’t everything (and I assume the Ps5 and XBX will often be so close as to be indistinguishable, especially when running a third party pipeline like Unreal) but that looks sodding silly. I mean, it is bordering on photorealism. Stuff just got real, or at least pretty much impossible to tell from it.

100’s of billions of triangles, oh my!!
Joking aside that is absolutely stunning, if most games look anything near that I’ll be very happy. Only the water looked a little odd as she was walking through it.

A good point from Digital Foundry on Twitter, this was the Unreal Engine 4 tech demo on PS4, and in fact the actual games ended up more than exceeding this in terms of visuals.

Some interesting side points. Epic have been working more closely with Sony so far, and Tim Sweeney seems to be a big fan of the PS5 SSD implementation. Part of what was impressive about that demo was what the SSD enabled.

The other thing was that the demo was running at variable resolution, though mostly 1440p with some clever interpolation stuff going on. The interesting thing about this is that people didn’t know until they were told, and Digital Foundry said the 4K high quality PNG stills they were provided with defied pixel counting. I love the clever stuff they are using to create better images these days. 😊

Re: UE5 demo. If she could move like that why on earth did she bother walking and climbing at the start? 😂

We’ve got 4 interesting sounding events today. I’ll be flitting between the lemans discord and normal one 🙂

UK times are the left hand ones

Strong rumours that the Persona series (or at least one of them) is PC bound as of this evening, got a virtual pub quiz to do this eve, plus the various shows, virtual Le Mans and not virtual golf, it’s a busy evening!

That was a crazy amount of games. Lots of good and interesting stuff in there. I’ll try and pick some out tomorrow if I’ve got a spare couple of hours =\

    So… let’s see.

Ghostrunner demo was enjoyable, so I have my eye on this.

    More in-depth Godfall (PC!) trailer.

This tickles my soulslike bone, even if it is a little too edgelord,

Torchlight 3 out in early access!

    Everspace 2 looks amazing.

Cygni. Honestly, the intro bit with transition from cutscene to gameplay is astonishing. The schmup itself looks very very good too.

Other games that really interested me. Yesterday was a good day =)

There was a LOT of stuff on show yesterday and this is just fraction of what was good imo.

Yeah, I thought it was great!

    Cygni was fabulous.

I’ve tried Torchlight 3 this morning, it’s alright lol

Pre-ordered New World whilst I was at it.

Normally I like space and flight combat games but really couldn’t even get started on Everspace - terribly sensitive controls - couldn’t hit a thing and couldn’t get anywhere on the tutorial.

    EA Play Live

In about 15 minutes. Pretty tired but I’m going to try and stay up for it. I suspect there’s going to be some big switch news at the very least.

I accidentally happened across it on YouTube and watched. Squadrons gameplay, Apex legends coming to Switch along with crossplay. A lot of meh and too much taking by people with funny eyes (*).

The originals stuff was the highlight though. It Takes Two and Random both look intriguing.

(*) Obviously reading auto cues but keeping too still so you just see their eyes going rapidly left/right all the time.

    Brave
The original source is very dubious, but it’s an interesting idea. MS is making it’s money on the services - more than any generation previous. So it’s feasible they’d go this direction. Very aggressive.

    Necro!

Thought it was probably a good place to put this.

In about twenty minutes a mystery world premiere is getting unveiled. “About to steal the show” is a hell of a thing to say if you don’t think it’ll steal the show. So I’m hoping they’ve got the chops to back it up.

Well, it’s certainly a good way to drum up some buzz about your feed.

I’m here and ready to be hugely disappointed.

Sigh. Sega’s take on Payday munged with battle royale. Questionable character design for some characters but I actually like the vibe otherwise.

5 teams of 3, like a larger Hood. Got live service written all over it. Pass.

This is on tonight, I think!

    Bit of a snooze fest.

    a year later

Very excited for potentially seeing Civilization VII!

Going to try watching. Interested to see rumoured Lego Horizon game.

Horizon Lego looked a bit dull, voice of Aloy didn’t help. Most interesting is that it’s day one on Switch and PC. Not a Sony first party developer, but based on one of their core IP.

Metaphor: ReFantazio looked pretty good. Never managed to get into the Persona games before - too slow a start for me. Loved the style of Persona 5 though and this looks a little more traditional fantasy.

    So far I’m… bored.

    Cuffbust looked great though.

    Slitterhead. Now we’re talking

    Kunitsu-Gami looks really interesting.
