So Rachel needs the wee office in our house because she has confidential conversations pretty much all day every week day. Which is fine, but has left me searching for a compact, friction free way of working at my PC.
I’ve eventually settled on this. I’ve got frictionless pads on the bottom of the desk so I can easily swivel it across or away without damaging the floor. I’ve got a very cool little adjustable snake arm thing that holds my iPad in place, which I use with an app called Duet to give me a second screen. It works really well.
I’ve also got a little headphone clip hanging off the back, and a weird little clamp-on musician’s shelf which is very sturdily attached under the mouse shelf on the right and holds my external HDDs (little bit of velcro is making double sure they don’t fall off) . Plus, of course, my podcast/recording mic which I can just swivel over when I want to.
Add to that a touchscreen based graphics tablet which I use to edit my photographs on and somehow I now have the ability to comfortably work on photography, videos and record and edit podcasts, not to mention game and stream said games all in a tiny footprint, in the comfort of my recliner.
An occasional three screen setup at that!
If it wasn’t for me missing my studio compadres, I’d actually prefer this setup to my professional one 😉
