These games can be as frustrating as they are rewarding. My second rookie league race was a mess. The lobby wasn’t setup correctly so a mandatory pit stop was enabled. We all noticed on the grid with the countdown timer going. I tried to jump into the setup and adjust my pit stop settings and ran out of time. Still being quite new to the game I didn’t realise this meant you start from the pit lane.
Anyway, I’d been practicing all week so I waited for all the cars to do their full formation lap (another server error) and set off with ice cold tyres once they’d all gone through the first corner.
I qualified 2nd or 3rd so I was quickly on the back of the slower cars and passed 3 or 4 within the first 2 laps. On T1 of lap 3 a car that I had passed early on the straight and was comfortably ahead of into T1 didn’t brake enough and hit my rear quarter spinning me out and making my car undriveable. That meant a 3 ½ minute sit in the pits which at this point I was in no mood for so I left.
I think next time I’ll do minimum practice as it all felt a bit like it was for nothing in the end. Monza next so not looking forward to T1, especially as I’ll no doubt be somewhere near the top 3 or 4 on the grid again.
