So I’ve spent a fair bit of time on ACC this week and I’m not sure if it is an epiphany or just common sense but tyre pressures are absolute key and I think I wasn’t paying enough attention to them.
Long story short (kinda), watched a video from one of the developers streams where he talked about taking the Safe setup and getting your tyre pressures right, then lowering the ride height and doing a series of minute changes to TC, rear wing and further ride height adjustments based on that.
Odd thing happened. Spent a half hour practice session concentrating on the feel of the car and just getting the car comfortable. Did the race, concentrated on consistency and ended up setting consistent lap times that were faster than my hotlap time after weeks. Didn’t even realise.
Did the same at Brands, Monza and Silverstone. Soon as I focus on going for a lap time, the car feels wrong, I overdrive and set laps a second slower. Dont get me wrong, I’m probably nowhere near anything you guys could set but happy with the consistency and that in turn is bringing the speed up.
Also spent time getting the wheel set up and after the force feedback was sorted and the pedals the way I wanted them (sorted the brake issue!) it took five laps on each circuit to get within a half second of the fast laps I was setting during the week on the pad (I know, it’s lazy but easier during the week to use the pad).
So yeah. Long rambling post to say, slower and smoother is faster and consistent oddly enough. Plus, tyre pressures! 🤪
