Nobody outside sony knows what the battery life is like yet. In theory the system theyâre using in the new one is more power efficient than moving weights around but any rumble system uses more power than not having one at all. I suspect though the way battery tech has moved on since the PS4/XBO pads were designed, both pads will hopefully have significantly improved charge lifetime than the previous ones.
Just seen a couple of âunboxingâ videos for the XSX. Nobody is allowed to switch one on âon airâ yet, so theyâre reduced to clicking the buttons on inactive pads and having to explain to people the slight differences between an XSX pad and an XBO pad. I suspect the issue is not that the PS5 pad is spectacularly surprising, more that it is actually ânewâ, whereas the differences with the MS pads seem to be pretty minimal - one button you donât use all the time, as far as I can see.
