Going all digital has been on the cards for a while now, and the cost/benefit for PlayStation balance has finally tipped. Presumably this means PS6 will be all digital from the get go?

hmm, not thrilled about the no physical media, even though i buy more stuff digital these days.

I decided to try to actually finish games for a change instead of just abandoning them when the next shiny thing comes along. It’s actually going pretty well. So far this year I’ve finished Resident Evil Requiem, Saros, First Light, Pragmata, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Big Walk 🎉

I’m also finally near the end of Death Stranding 2 and I’m relieved to discover that Kojima still definitely doesn’t have anyone on his team to tell him “No, that’s a fucking stupid idea” 😂

I’m 50% of the way through the final Talos 2 expansion: “Into The Abyss”.
I’ve completed the most difficult puzzle in the entire series but stuck on the easiest in this expansion!🙃
They’re getting really hard now!

Brave It’s possible that either the project isn’t going well, it’s looking like it’ll be a very hard sell, or it’s getting way too expensive. It’s also possible that they realised it’d been at least a week since their last bad decision and it was time for another.

Brave maybe also - What is XBox playing at? It dropped a load of it’s own studios due to cut backs but has money to invest in Kojima’s new idea? An idea Sony didn’t want to continue investing in? Bit baffling from both depending on what this actually is.

Sony Group Corp.’s PlayStation pulled out of an upcoming game by the well-known designer Hideo Kojima because of concerns over budget, potential profitability and exclusivity, according to people familiar with the project.

One major factor behind the decision was the commercial performance of Kojima’s previous two games, Death Stranding and its sequel, which didn’t meet PlayStation’s revenue expectations, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing information that’s not public.

But the new project has also missed deadlines and was on track to be well over budget despite being years away from release, the people said. In addition, PlayStation was reluctant to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in another game that wouldn’t remain permanently exclusive to the company’s own hardware. Both Death Stranding games were “timed” PlayStation exclusives that were later released on other platforms. Kojima’s closely held studio, Kojima Productions, retained ownership of the franchises.
