I think to be fair to Massi, which goes against my instincts =), he’s been at the centre of two very very difficult seasons. He at least delivered a season last year in the middle of all the crap 2020 could throw at us.
Arguably his decisions this year have exacerbated a highly politically charged season but then by the same token he’s got asshats like Horner and Wolff screaming down the comms at him every time there’s a decision to be made. Which at the very least actively makes it harder to make a decision.
Martin Brundle alluded to the fact that Charlie Whiting had great staff around him, especially a very strong and long standing right hand man who shouldered a lot of the pressure.
It seems like Massi doesn’t have that. Unfortunately, after this last minute change in safety car protocol I’m not sure that’s going to be enough to save him. Neither Mercedes nor Red Bull have a good relationship with the guy, and Toto looks like he’s out for blood
