BOT was never going to be able to hold VES up for very long, however, he proper shit the bed when the chance came to delay VES’s progress. He defended down the back straight and sat in the middle of the road when VES wasn’t close enough to pass. As a result, he cocked up his braking point and couldn’t get it turned into the corner. He did a much better job against Perez in that same sector a few laps later.
Mrecedes dropped a bollock again this weekend. Their first mistake was leaving HAM out too long after VES pitted giving him the lead back. However, what’s worse is with that knowledge, and HAM stuck behind VES and looking pacey (was able to follow within 1 sec for that stint) they didn’t pull the trigger first and undercut VES back.
This championship is going to be decided by fine margins. If HAM is to win his 8th title, and stop VES from winning his first, they need to be perfect and take their opportunities when they are there to take. The French GP was a winnable race for them on race pace. Baku wasn’t and the Red Bull is looking strong at a lot more tracks this year.
