Honestly, back paddles are the best innovation in standard controllers in the last decade imo. For me, it means less pain by a long way, but it’s also brilliant competitively too. Being able to sync a button to a paddle and then keep my thumbs on the sticks the whole time can make a hell of difference.
Those two issues together, mean that it’s been worth it, for me at least, to spend a wad of cash on the latest wireless Nacon Revolution pad; but this little doohickey means adding that functionality to controllers you’re already happy with for a small fraction of the cost. Brilliant.
There have been 3rd party attempts at this solution before but they were focussed on cheating with things like autofire mods which I never feel comfortable with. You could use it without the mods but I felt dirty handing over my money. Plus the damn thing gave me frequent tiny shocks. So I binned it.
I can’t see Sony having either of these issues. So I’ll be snapping these things up.
