I took the plunge on a TP Link Deco M5 which is a step up from the M4 I had been looking at… always the case isn’t it? 😅
It came early last week. It was a little fiddly to get the VM Hub and Deco M5 working together but after an hour and some Googling it was all systems go and it’s been on the money ever since.
The only thing I would say is you can’t split the bands on the same network. If you want to have separate bands you’d have to use the guest network function. To get my smart bulb to join the WiFi I disabled the 5ghz band temporarily and once connected reactivated it. It’s very easy with TP Link’s Deco app and you can even go into each connected device and see which node their connected to and disable the mesh roaming.
Anyway I’m pleased because my smart bulb now works first time, every time so I’m looking forward to expanding my smart devices soon. And quite often I’d find my download speed taking a real bit from 100MB to less than 1. I think this was caused by the VM Hub and it’s now been eliminated 😁
