The Expanse (Sci-fi)

Just catching up with Season 3 which has recently popped up on Amazon (along with Seasons 1 and 2). Amazon are funding Season 4 but 1 and 2 were previously on Netflix having been made by SyFy.

So season 1 and 2 are absolutely fantastic - some of the best Sci-fi in years and it comes thoroughly recommended by lots of people I know. Pretty sure it was @Jonbwfc who mentioned season 3 is even better when I said I’d started watching the first 2 seasons and you are so incredibly and absolutely right. It’s mind blowingly good stuff. 😁

Innit though 🙂. People rave about Game Of Thrones (quite rightly to be fair) but IMO The Expanse is just as good a show, albeit in a different genre on about a tenth of the budget.

Weirdly, just finished S3 this weekend. It’s an incredible series. First sci-fi series to top BSG in my eyes. I’ve loved every single moment. I both love and fear Amos.

Yeah, got this on my watch list.

A few months ago I was trying to chose between The Expanse and Altered Carbon on Netflix, I chose the latter to watch first. AC was good, but after a very strong first couple of episodes I found it lost its focus on character and relied too much on action. Not a bad show by any means.

There is so much good stuff on at the moment, GoT, Line of Duty, plus the latest season on Bosch just went up on Amazon, so I’ve got a lot to get through.

Just finished season 4. Wow. Disappointed that it didn’t have quite as many episodes, but I thought it was superb. I think the first 3 seasons edge it out a little but I still loved it to bits.

Loved Miller and Amos, and Murtry (sp?) was the perfect frontier villain.

Final episode was brilliant.

I did find it felt a bit ‘smaller scale’ than previous seasons, less system-wide politics and more personal. No problem with that and it’s down to the source material of course - that’s how his part of the book series is. Continues to have a range of fantastic performances and excellent script, who in is what actually makes for good telly.
