I started playing again two weeks ago off and on (which, I’ve discovered, is the best way to play AC games).
Honestly I think it’s worth it at that price. The game is way way way too big. But the combat is fun, the characters that are supposed to be likeable are actually likeable (I rarely find that to be the case in AC games excepting black flag), and my god the sense of travelling back in time really got me.
I utterly love the historical treatment it’s had. The era is the one I’m most fascinated by and it really does feel like you’re there. It’s a real wow moment.
My only real issue is some of the accents. It can really grate. Particularly the new Isle of Skye map, which is 100% populated by RADA graduates apparently.
That aside, wandering the likes of Northwic and Ledecestrecrestredecestreshire filled with pagan and Christian tussles was a real treat for me. My last exhibited work was rooted in all of that and genuinely I was really impressed with how it brings it all to life.
I’m not sure I’ll ever finish it, but taking another twenty hour chunk out of it every so often is great.
