Looks fantastic! Fascinating that they’ve remade it on Unreal rather than Bethsoft’s own engine.

Edit: interesting from the video it sounds like they are running the original engine inside of Unreal, so it’s all the original game logic but with a new graphics engine.

New combat animations with hit feedback
Sprinting system added
Reworked third-person view
New levelling system (fusion of Oblivion + Skyrim)
New interface (retains the general aesthetic of the original game’s UI)
Every model/texture in the game has been remade by hand
Remastered VFX and SFX, added effects for combat
Uses Unreal Engine 5 for graphics, original engine for core gameplay systems.

Lots of people saying this doesn’t run great on PS5, even on Pro. I think I’ll wait for a bit.

I played through the opening last night on the X, it does chug a bit a times but seemed mainly fine once I’d gotten through the opening sewers, that said you definitely need VRR turned on. It seems to have some big stutters every so often, which isn’t great, but doesn’t seem like anything that can’t be patched.

I’m intrigued to spend a bit of time with this as I have some fond memories of playing it almost twenty years ago, but any attempts to go back to it revealed it to be very dated. From many games of that period it does seem to be the one most in need of a remake.

I reckon I’ll stick with Shadows a bit more though as I’m still enjoying that one a lot.

Played a bit more and have to say the jank is very present. Unstable framerate and just tons of glitches. You could say that’s the Oblivion experience but tbh I was expecting a bit more polish, especially after Starfield. Probably worth getting it on PC so at least can get a stable-ish 60 fps framerate.
