I’m enjoying this quite a bit, but I have to say the game has quite a lot of padding in the middle! Just when you think you’ve gotten to the end of the hospital section it makes you do it all again!
Also, it’s a timely reminder of when the only allowable videogame protagonist was Dowdy McBlandman. Surely some sort of middle-aged game developer self-insert? Thankfully things have come on since then. I also had the laugh that the only proper female character (so far) is heavily implied to be a stripper.
Lastly, it’s not been a very challenging game, which saps the horror of a some of the feeling of jeopardy. I’m about half way(?) through and I’ve only died once. Or maybe Dark Souls has made us all much better at videogames than we were in 2001?
The atmosphere and audio are absolutely top notch though. I like how the puzzles lead from one into the other without letting things get too confusing. Looking forward to getting back to it.
