Have a great Xmas folks. We’re all set, if a little under the weather. Lily’s got a nasty sore throat that kept her up last night (no temperature or anything else, and she’s improving) and I don’t know whether I’m just in high alert mode or if I really am starting to feel a bit under the weather.

Regardless. We’ve got lights, a tree and a decent stack of presents to be opened. Gonna make the most of it 😉

I hope Santa doesn’t bring you socks. 🤞

Merry Christmas all. We all had the lurgy in the run up, I’m the last suffering and on steroids, antibiotics and inhalers so rattling through. Kids didn’t go down until 3am but let us lie til 6am which was a triumph compared to last year.

9yo currently glued to Splatoon 3 and giving me a running commentary 😆

Kafkaesque There’s so much lurgy about at the moment, just about everyone I know seems to have at least one family member unwell at the moment. Beth is laid up on the sofa feeling rotten here too. Hope things improve for you soon.

Among other things…

Lily got me the best T shirt ever from the guy who does my favourite Elden Ring animations.

And Rachel got me a mini moonlight greatsword from Elden Ring. It’s surprisingly hefty I have to say. Made of metal.

Plus cool books, some cash, a ridiculously chunky solar battery charger, a tiny real cactus in a key ring, a first aid kit for bees and a bin load of dairy free and gluten free chocolate because I’m unable to have the 100% fun variety. I’ll happily take the 90% fun version though 🙂

Happy Christmas 🙂 It’s carnage here with a very, very excited 5 and 6 year old. That said, they didn’t wake up until 6AM which feels a bit like a Christmas miracle. Couple more hours then I can crack open the huge marble run I got for them (and definitely not because I really wanted to play with it)

We don’t really do presents any more for each other, but the kids got a board game called Ravine which I can heartily recommend. Very funny co-op survival.

Brave Rewatched that the other week. I always think of it as the quintessential big action movie but what impressed me was the restraint, you’re pretty much a full hour in before you even see an alien. All the time is used to build the atmosphere and the relationships between the characters. I don’t think any action movie today would go an hour before having any action.

Brave Aliens and The Thing are my two most watched films. Can sit through either of them any number of times and never get bored.
