Gordon I’m in two minds. I like the story (but I’m not sure if I actually like it or just really enjoy the acting which is mostly stellar), but gameplay (maybe structure is more accurate because combat is great) wise I actually wish it was much more rpg. This is really an action game and the rpg elements seem (so far) quite poorly attached to it.
I actually find myself thinking I’d love to play an MMO successor to ffxiv that played like this, you can see a lot of totally unaltered DNA from that game; but as a single player game, ironically, it feels too empty.
To be fair. I still devoured it from yesterday lunchtime until after midnight pretty much, but I’m not convinced it’s going to keep me going for long.
Also, which one was the FF that was a seemingly endless corridor. Was that 12? I hated that one intensely and the lengthy beginning really seemed like that, just disguised with large amounts of shrubbery.
Combat is great though, and it really is very very shiny. But I’m also playing Aliens Dark Descent just now and I’m feeling the pull of that and Zelda far more than I’m feeling compelled to finish this.
