I played Crimes and Punishments a few years ago, and enjoyed it. The detective and investigation parts are great, but the action bits are a bit janky. I didn’t play Devils Daughter as I heard they’d moved a bit more action-focused, but might have to pick it up now it’s cheap. I love detective games, and these ones do a really good job of putting you in the driving seat. You discover clues which go into your ‘mind palace’, where you can then link them together to create deductions. If you’re successful a deduction will open up a new clue, or a dialog option, or even a new location. There are multiple different endings to each case, and it’s not a given you’ll get the best or even ‘correct’ one. They are fun but a bit clunky and obviously made on a budget. I think the same developer has been cranking them out every few years since the early 2000s.
