Gordon I note with interest that the word “chaos” is entirely absent from this new trailer. I’m not sure what’s going on with that pirate’s accent though 🤣
Gordon There’s at least one “chaos” at 21 seconds 😂 Still very interested in this. The story looks awful but I think the actual game has a lot of potential.
Brave Gordon yeah agreed. I’m just not sure I’ll be able to deal with the cheese for the duration. I’ll give it a bloody good go though. Maybe Japanese voice actors with subtitles will change it. I know it worked for me in FFVII remake. Suddenly Cloud wasn’t a jerk.
Gordon Brave It’s out right in the middle of Horizon FW, Elden Ring, GT7 and Tiny Tina. I’m hoping by the time I’m done with all that lot it’ll be cheap. Or it’ll turn out to be awful and I’ll pass 🙂
Gordon To follow on from yesterday’s “official final trailer”, today Square put out another trailer 😂 Tons of cheese as is now expected, but there’s a decent look at the combat system too. Tons of loot and customisation and online co-op 🙂
Brave Sounds like the story and the CHAOS CHAOS CHAOS stuff is as daft and poorly done as expected, but the gameplay is sound. I’m still in. 🙂 https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2022-03-14-stranger-of-paradise-final-fantasy-origin-review-a-trashy-soulslike-that-packs-surprising-depth I almost have to admire the audacity of how blasé Square Enix is with its own history, and wonder how much of Stranger of Paradise was intended as comedy. Is it irreverence or just laxity? If you thought Final Fantasy 7 Remake took liberties with its source material, at least there seemed to be a purpose and intent behind it. Stranger of Paradise meanwhile feels like an ill-thought fanfic, given free rein to ransack the back catalogue. For those just interested in the combat, though, there’s still a flashy and trashy time to be had, especially if you treat it as a Final Fantasy theme park ride where you get to batter a familiar bestiary - Bombs! Courels! Malboros! - for garishly coloured loot. At the very least, it might make a case for more approachable and less demanding Soulslikes (Soulslites?). Or, like Jack, you might just think, “Bullshit,” and walk away.
Brave I’ll add. This is one of those coop games where I’d be open to a “wait for a certain price on sale “ pact. Because Ghostwire is looking like it might be another great game and it launches very soon. /ahem @Gordon
Gordon Brave I’m definitely up for it but I need to get Elden Ring out of my system first. As soon as it goes on sale I’ll grab it.
